Context: The AI Infrastructure Play in Crypto

Once a model is trained, it needs to be stored, served, and updated. Decentralized storage networks (Filecoin, Arweave) provide the data persistence that centralized cloud providers can’t guarantee—think of them as the HBM memory of AI, holding the model weights and inference logs. And to run those models on a blockchain—whether for verifiable inference or agent-to-agent transactions—you need cheap, fast execution. That’s where Layer2 solutions like Arbitrum, Optimism, and zkSync come in. They are the optical interconnects of crypto AI: high-bandwidth, low-latency data pipes.

Core: The Narrative Mechanism and Sentiment Analysis

The rally on July 22 wasn’t random. It was triggered by three converging data points. First, Filecoin’s active storage deals hit an all-time high of 1.8 exabytes in July, up 40% from June. Second, Arbitrum’s daily transaction count surpassed 3 million for the first time, driven by a new wave of AI inference microtransactions from projects like Giza and Modulus. Third, the total value locked (TVL) in Layer2 protocols reached $45 billion, a level last seen in early 2022. But the real signal was in the sentiment data.
